How we operate

How we operate

The BFTVI is based on an agreed programme of activities which have been assessed and authorised independently as effective mechanisms to stimulate enterprise and employment in film and television in the region.
Sounds good in theory - we're only ever interested in results.
The BFTVI is based on an agreed programme of activities which have been assessed and authorised independently as effective mechanisms to stimulate enterprise and employment in film and television in the region.
Sounds good in theory - we're only ever interested in results.

Details of our activities are set out below, in full. If you’re interested in a specific aspect of our work, click on the links to pages in the left-hand column.

But although we work to an agreed program, we have ambitions for the film and tv sector locally and regionally. Put simply, whatever your idea, if it's good and in some way involves employment or enterprise in Hastings, we'll do our best to find ways to support it.
If you need crew or locations, we'll help you find them - or put you in touch with those who can.
While we do not have a specific production fund for film or tv projects, we'll do our best to advise you on how to raise the funds you need - if we can't help you ourselves.
And if you need advice on how to develop an idea, a project or a career in film or TV - you've come to the right place.....

Please visit our funding section for details on how you can obtain funding for your project or programme.

Marketing Support….

The BFTVI offers a range of opportunities for you to market your work or service more widely to audiences, commissioners and industry networks.

….for film-makers

First, you can apply to post your showreel on our Initiative-funded webstreaming service www.hastingsfreetv.com. Uploading your showreel will ensure it is seen by thousands in the industry, and provides a valuable destination to refer any contact to to review your work.

Our regular Shoot and Edit networking events provide an opportunity for you to gain critical feedback on your work, showcasing your film to new audiences every quarter.

During the course of 2008/9 we will be taking the BFTVI on the road, holding events around the region and offering you the chance to have work seen by industry professionals and other network attendees.

We will also be attending some of the UK’s top film festivals such as Britdoc and the Raindance Film Festival, taking some of the region’s best creative output with us. If you want to be part of the show, let us know!

….for film and TV services

Our marketing support services are equally designed to support any organisation involved in providing services to the film and TV sector.

Our database is designed to help any film or TV production company wishing to locate productions in the region to source the services they need from our nearby area. Whatever service you provide – from location-finding to costume design, make-up to transport. If you’d like to add your details to our site, please send us an email, together with your email, website and address details to editor@bairdfilmandtv.com and we’ll do the rest.

In addition,, make sure you supply us with your own our marketing materials to display at our new Resource Centre and to take on the road with us when we’re out and about at Festivals and conferences.
